Phoenix

The Phoenix sofa, part of the Timeout Collection by Molteni&C, merges Mediterranean tradition with a refined minimalist aesthetic. Designed for contemporary outdoor living, it features a lightweight burnished aluminum structure that frames the seat, armrests, and legs in a seamless, ribbon-like line. This continuous curve lends the sofa both elegance and structural fluidity, while the use of aluminum ensures ease of movement and reconfiguration—an essential element for dynamic outdoor spaces.

Hand-woven polypropylene rope in shades of anthracite, olive green, or desert yellow wraps around the frame in a dense, basket-like weave. This artisanal texture pays homage to traditional Mediterranean craftsmanship, adding warmth and depth to the clean-lined design.

Offered in two widths, 150 and 180 cm, the Phoenix sofa is available with matching cushions and can be paired with a pouf, sun lounger, dining elements, or side tables from the wider Timeout Collection for a unified, versatile outdoor setting.

Meet the designer
Vincent Van Duysen

Born in 1962 in Lokeren, Belgium, Vincent Van Duysen studied architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas in Ghent. Between 1986 and 1989, he gained valuable experience working in Milan and Brussels before establishing his own studio in Antwerp in 1990. His work seamlessly blends architecture and interior design, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two disciplines. Van Duysen’s designs for furnishings and accessories adopt an architectural mindset, prioritizing spatial awareness and the interaction between interior and exterior environments. By reshaping architectural proportions, he crafts designs that are pure, simple, and timeless, yet retain a tangible solidity and substance.

Van Duysen’s architectural practice has undertaken a broad range of noteworthy projects. These include his first venture into the Belgian hotel industry and an impressive portfolio of international work. Among his key projects are private residences in cities such as London, New York, and Milan, as well as offices in Beirut and Riyadh. He has also designed high-end commercial spaces in global capitals like Paris, Rome, and Hong Kong. Additionally, Van Duysen has collaborated with Molteni&C, creating iconic pieces such as the Gliss Master cabinet system and the Ribbon bed.
