Boffi | DePadova: the evolution of an Italian design superpower

From a small cabinet-making workshop in Brianza in 1934 to one of the most influential contemporary interior design groups worldwide, Boffi traces a journey that goes far beyond the story of a single brand.

It is, in many ways, the story of Italian living itself — continuously evolving through architectural thinking, technical expertise and uncompromising quality.

Founded by Piero Boffi, the company began with handcrafted kitchens at a time when design had yet to meaningfully enter the domestic space. Over the decades, Boffi introduced a radical shift: transforming the kitchen from a purely functional element into the core of the home’s architectural experience. Clean geometries, advanced materials, technological precision and a strict, almost minimalist elegance shaped a new language for contemporary living.

This evolution reached a decisive turning point in the late 1980s, when Boffi moved beyond individual product design to articulate a holistic living system. Kitchens, bathrooms, storage units and living environments became part of a unified architectural narrative defined by coherence, flow and a strong, recognizable identity.

This legacy is clearly reflected in the latest Boffi, De Padova and ADL collection presented at Milan Design Week. Contemporary reinterpretations of iconic works — such as the XPL kitchen system by Piero Lissoni, a modern evolution of Luigi Massoni’s legendary Xila (1972) — reaffirm the group’s dynamic character and its ongoing ability to redefine contemporary living.

A pivotal moment in this journey came with the acquisition of De Padova in 2015. With a 70-year heritage, De Padova introduced a warmer, more refined and deeply residential dimension into the Boffi universe. Its furniture — defined by impeccable proportions, premium materials and a strong focus on comfort and detail — complements Boffi’s more rigorous architectural language, creating interiors that balance precision with softness, elegance with livability.

This architectural experience is further enriched by ADL, whose partition systems do more than divide space — they actively shape it. Through light, transparency, movement and geometry, ADL elements enhance continuity and spatial flow, becoming integral components of everyday living.

Today, Boffi | De Padova represents far more than the union of historic Italian brands. It is a complete and coherent design system for contemporary living — a universe where industrial precision meets artisanal sensitivity, and where each element maintains its identity while contributing to a greater architectural whole.

In Greece, Boffi, De Padova and ADL are represented by Àper, part of the Chatziorfanou Group, bringing to the local market a fully integrated vision of contemporary living — one where kitchen, furniture and interior architecture converge into a unified, high-aesthetic environment.
