Cobea

The Cobea chair by Vincent Van Duysen brings sculptural clarity and tactile warmth to the Molteni&C Outdoor Collection. Crafted in solid teak, its design draws from nature while embracing minimalist elegance. Available with or without armrests, Cobea balances versatility with a distinctive identity rooted in craftsmanship.

Its most striking feature is the hand-woven backrest, made from polypropylene fiber ribbons that evoke the soft, natural texture of cotton. This subtle detail introduces a refined, tactile element to the chair’s clean geometry, enhancing both visual and physical comfort. The seat rests on solid teak slats and can be personalized with cushions in a curated range of weather-resistant fabrics and colors selected by Marta Ferri.

Cobea’s restrained silhouette and thoughtful detailing allow it to adapt seamlessly to outdoor dining or lounge settings, offering a timeless expression of comfort, material harmony, and contemporary outdoor living.

Vincent Van Duysen

Born in 1962 in Lokeren, Belgium, Vincent Van Duysen studied architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas in Ghent. Between 1986 and 1989, he gained valuable experience working in Milan and Brussels before establishing his own studio in Antwerp in 1990. His work seamlessly blends architecture and interior design, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two disciplines. By reshaping architectural proportions, he crafts designs that are pure, simple, and timeless, yet retain a tangible solidity and substance.

Van Duysen’s architectural practice has undertaken a broad range of noteworthy projects. These include his first venture into the Belgian hotel industry and an impressive portfolio of international work. Among his key projects are private residences in cities such as London, New York, and Milan, as well as offices in Beirut and Riyadh. He has also designed high-end commercial spaces in global capitals like Paris, Rome, and Hong Kong.
