Petalo

The Petalo armchair and pouf, designed by Vincent Van Duysen for Molteni&C, embody a refined approach to outdoor comfort, blending sculptural design with advanced materials and a deep respect for nature. Part of the Outdoor Timeout Collection, Petalo is defined by its organic lines and enveloping form, creating an inviting presence in any al fresco setting — from private gardens to luxury hospitality environments.

Its frame is constructed from recyclable aluminum, finished in a deep merlot red that adds a bold yet elegant character. This sustainable structure supports a finely woven backrest made from polypropylene fiber ribbons, reminiscent of nautical ropework. The result is not only visually striking but also weather-resistant and suitable for year-round outdoor use.

Available in both high and low backrest versions, Petalo offers customizable comfort through a selection of cushions. The optional pouf extends versatility and completes this refined outdoor ensemble.

Vincent Van Duysen

Born in 1962 in Lokeren, Belgium, Vincent Van Duysen studied architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas in Ghent. Between 1986 and 1989, he gained valuable experience working in Milan and Brussels before establishing his own studio in Antwerp in 1990. His work seamlessly blends architecture and interior design, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two disciplines. Van Duysen’s designs for furnishings and accessories adopt an architectural mindset, prioritizing spatial awareness and the interaction between interior and exterior environments. By reshaping architectural proportions, he crafts designs that are pure, simple, and timeless, yet retain a tangible solidity and substance.

Van Duysen’s architectural practice has undertaken a broad range of noteworthy projects. These include his first venture into the Belgian hotel industry and an impressive portfolio of international work. Among his key projects are private residences in cities such as London, New York, and Milan, as well as offices in Beirut and Riyadh. He has also designed high-end commercial spaces in global capitals like Paris, Rome, and Hong Kong. Additionally, Van Duysen has collaborated with Molteni&C, creating iconic pieces such as the Gliss Master cabinet system and the Ribbon bed.
