Boboli
Designed by Vincent Van Duysen, the Boboli armchair is a standout piece within the Molteni&C Outdoor Collection—an iconic expression of natural elegance and refined construction. With light, open lines that harmonize with outdoor surroundings, it captures the balance between structure and softness through a sculptural yet inviting form.
The frame is crafted from solid teak wood, offering both durability and organic warmth. Its backrest is hand-woven with ecru-colored polypropylene fiber ribbons, creating a natural texture through precise craftsmanship. Seat and back cushions are fully customizable in an array of outdoor fabrics and curated colors by Marta Ferri, allowing each armchair to reflect personal style while meeting outdoor performance standards.
Born in 1962 in Lokeren, Belgium, Vincent Van Duysen studied architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas in Ghent. Between 1986 and 1989, he gained valuable experience working in Milan and Brussels before establishing his own studio in Antwerp in 1990. His work seamlessly blends architecture and interior design, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two disciplines. Van Duysen’s designs for furnishings and accessories adopt an architectural mindset, prioritizing spatial awareness and the interaction between interior and exterior environments. By reshaping architectural proportions, he crafts designs that are pure, simple, and timeless, yet retain a tangible solidity and substance.
Van Duysen’s architectural practice has undertaken a broad range of noteworthy projects. These include his first venture into the Belgian hotel industry and an impressive portfolio of international work. Among his key projects are private residences in cities such as London, New York, and Milan, as well as offices in Beirut and Riyadh. He has also designed high-end commercial spaces in global capitals like Paris, Rome, and Hong Kong. Additionally, Van Duysen has collaborated with Molteni&C, creating iconic pieces such as the Gliss Master cabinet system and the Ribbon bed.
With a solid teak frame, hand-woven ecru ribbons, and fully customizable cushions, the Boboli armchair blends design purity with outdoor comfort and personalization.
