Ergonomically designed and visually balanced, Phoenix invites relaxed moments in the garden, on the terrace, or poolside. It pairs effortlessly with other elements from the Timeout Collection—including sofas, stools, dining chairs, and tables—creating a cohesive and timeless outdoor setting.

Phoenix
The Phoenix armchair from the Timeout Collection by Molteni&C embodies lightness, rhythm, and sculptural clarity—designed to bring refined comfort to open-air living. Available with or without armrests, it features a slender, angular frame in burnished painted aluminum that defines the seat’s silhouette with agility and precision.
The armchair’s structure is shaped by a continuous metal band that bends fluidly to form the backrest and sled-style base. Onto this framework, a dense weave of handcrafted polypropylene rope is applied, available in three signature tones: anthracite, olive green, and desert yellow. This tactile surface recalls traditional Mediterranean techniques while offering durability and weather resistance.
Born in 1962 in Lokeren, Belgium, Vincent Van Duysen studied architecture at the Higher Institute of Architecture Sint-Lucas in Ghent. Between 1986 and 1989, he gained valuable experience working in Milan and Brussels before establishing his own studio in Antwerp in 1990. His work seamlessly blends architecture and interior design, creating a symbiotic relationship between the two disciplines. Van Duysen’s designs for furnishings and accessories adopt an architectural mindset, prioritizing spatial awareness and the interaction between interior and exterior environments. By reshaping architectural proportions, he crafts designs that are pure, simple, and timeless, yet retain a tangible solidity and substance.
Van Duysen’s architectural practice has undertaken a broad range of noteworthy projects. These include his first venture into the Belgian hotel industry and an impressive portfolio of international work. Among his key projects are private residences in cities such as London, New York, and Milan, as well as offices in Beirut and Riyadh. He has also designed high-end commercial spaces in global capitals like Paris, Rome, and Hong Kong. Additionally, Van Duysen has collaborated with Molteni&C, creating iconic pieces such as the Gliss Master cabinet system and the Ribbon bed.

With a burnished aluminum frame and dense rope weave, the Phoenix armchair offers minimalist structure and ergonomic support for contemporary outdoor living.
