At 135 cm in height, Shoji is slightly lower than standard room dividers, providing privacy and rhythm without interrupting spatial openness. Whether framed only in cedar or combined with washi paper, it enriches the atmosphere with brightness, depth, and cultural authenticity.

Shoji
Shoji is a Japanese-inspired room divider that brings lightness, rhythm, and a sense of airiness into interior spaces. With its delicate proportions and refined construction, it recalls the elegance of traditional Japanese interiors while adapting seamlessly to contemporary living.
The structure is made from a slender, unpainted wooden trellis in Akita cedar, a material chosen for its natural texture and warmth. One side can be covered with Echizen washi paper from the Fukui prefecture, a handcrafted material with a thousand-year-old history that is both strong and almost weightless. The three panels are joined with paper hinges, entirely free of hardware, in strict respect of traditional Japanese techniques.
In the forests of Hokkaido, the northernmost of Japan’s main islands, the freezing winters slow the growth of trees, permitting the development after many years of high quality, dense timber. Time & Style taps into time-honored customs practiced by artisans involved in the construction of Japanese shrines and temples, an important activity with a history extending back over a millennium. This legacy is a major source of inspiration for Time & Style as it seeks to create a collection of modern furniture marked by authenticity and a deep appreciation for the past.
