De Padova

Edda

Edda by Federica Biasi reinterprets the archetype of the Japanese floor seat through a refined balance of softness, proportion, and formal restraint. Conceived as an object of quiet presence, the armchair combines organic volumes, generous padding, and a solid wood supporting structure within an essential composition that feels both contemporary and timeless. The project reflects a subtle dialogue between cultures and design traditions, translating distant references into a coherent architectural language defined by clarity, comfort, and emotional warmth.

The visible stitching traces and defines the soft upholstered forms, emphasizing the construction of the volumes while reinforcing the tactile character of the piece. Low and welcoming, Edda creates an intimate relationship with the body and the surrounding space, encouraging a slower and more mindful way of inhabiting interiors. Federica Biasi’s approach aligns naturally with De Padova’s aesthetic vocabulary, where minimalism is never rigid but enriched by material sensitivity and human scale.

Through its balanced proportions and understated presence, Edda becomes more than a seating element: it is an atmosphere translated into form. A quiet object designed to introduce softness, ritual, and calm into contemporary living environments.

Federica Biasi

Federica Biasi is a designer and art director based in Milan, where she established her studio in 2015 following a formative professional experience in the Netherlands that deeply influenced her design perspective and aesthetic sensibility.

Her practice explores the dialogue between design culture, artisanal craftsmanship, and industrial production, treating them as interconnected dimensions of the creative process. Working across furniture, objects, surfaces, and spatial projects, Biasi develops a design language rooted in material research, tactile perception, and formal clarity.

Experiences gathered through travel and the observation of diverse cultural environments inform a personal approach defined by balance, restraint, and essentiality. Drawing plays a central role within her process, becoming a tool through which function, materiality, and emotion converge into coherent forms. Craftsmanship and its translation into contemporary industrial production remain fundamental to her research, seen as an opportunity to reinterpret traditional techniques through a modern perspective.

Alongside her independent practice, Federica Biasi collaborates with international brands as both consultant and art director, contributing to the development of collections, creative direction, and product identity. This multidisciplinary approach has progressively established her as one of the most recognized voices within contemporary Italian design.

An essential armchair where soft architectural volumes and cross-cultural influences create a calm and intimate living experience.

Edda combines organic proportions, refined upholstery detailing, and a low sculptural presence to reinterpret comfort through a minimalist and contemplative design language.
